Honoring Districts of Distinction honorees this summer

We look forward to seeing you at July’s summit in Chicago for some quality professional development time. This mid-summer opportunity will give you a chance to network with other administrators and professionals while learning about new research and valuable resource solutions for your school district.

Watch for the honorees in the next round of the Districts of Distinction program in the July edition of District Administration. We hope you are as energized as we are by the inspiring initiatives that these school districts have implemented to positively affect change for their students and communities.

Bill Decker, chief administrator at the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency since 2013, is proud to continue serving DALI as one of its executive committee members for the upcoming membership year.

He heads up one of the nine area education organizations in Iowa. His agency serves over 50,000 students in 153 public and non-public school buildings, covering 21 school districts. In addition to offering co-op purchasing capabilities and environmental services, its regional learning center provides professionalf development, school improvement training and a technology teaching center, among other services.

The agency has revamped how it supports its superintendents and principals in the last two years. It now sends teams of experts to help districts develop and implement school goals for student achievement and educator collaboration. Individual districts have seen reductions in behavior problems and suspensions, while attendance has increased.  View>>
